An awesome place to do mission work. Super well organized!

I have frequented Sea Island Habitat and purchased things there for a number of years. Usually they have reasonable prices, however lately they have not. People donate for a cause I so get that what I do not get is why I would want to pay $975.00 for a used sofa, or $300.00 for a picture. These are just a couple of examples of What I consider to be over price items. Where do they get their pricing info?

Another thing that has always bothered me is that they price the furniture with a black permanent marker. To me this is a major deterrent from purchasing things. They also seem to frequently have a stagnate inventory and after so many months throw things in the "junk" heap outside the donation gate. Could that be because of overpricing? Could that not have a fixed price for certain items. For example, maybe $75 for a love seat, $150 for a sofa, $35 for a chair like they do sinks and toilets? That would eliminate the use of the permanent marker. Is it not better to sell more for less then less for more, or none at all? Maybe more families could be helped and less good intentions thrown away in a unwanted heap..

Disappointed with apparent greed of this particular location.

My agency has worked with Habitat for years regarding homeowners insurance. The attention to detail they provide every case and each new homeowner is remarkable. They give homeowners every opportunity to succeed and provide support not only during the initial period, but several years afterwards. This is a great organization and John, Maritza, and staff do an amazing job.
