When you are paying thousands of dollars for a vacation, a simple acknowledgement of these issues would be appreciated. Yet My biggest complaint would be that the manager at the time, Trapper, wasn't aware of what is going on in the condos section because he was managing the larger properties. Great but hire other people who do know and maybe take better care of the condo properties.
I wanted to express my pleasure with our stay at the Kiawah Island Vacation Rental at Turtle Point. What a beautiful home with an outstanding view of the ocean and the golf course. We stayed for 10 days and I've never had a more relaxing time on vacation. I look forward to future visits in the area and will definitely use Akers Ellis Real Estate properties again. Great vacation!
I have delayed response hoping that Akers Ellis management would have been kind enough to respond to our letters and emails. Since they have not acknowledged any communication or returned a phone call from a previous review in October 2016 after our August 2016 vacation, I will post my suggestions here.
We have been to Kiawah several times and travel quite a bit so not our first experience with rental houses yet it was for my senior parents. While we loved being together as a family, the house we rented had serious issues: no consistent hot water (initially the manager tried to make us feel like we were all idiots until realized the condo had a problem); air conditioning not working and just dirty which is interesting since we showed up on time and the cleaning guy was rude enough to let us know it wasn't ready yet and the food in the microwave that he seemed to have missed.!
Rented a villa for a week. Loved the island. We saw deer on the beach... alligator in the lagoons...found sand dollars. Loved the island. Quick and easy to setup reservation. Thanks for your help.
Not sure why there are not more recent postings regarding rental experiences...tried to review on Trip Advisor but couldn't find this vacation rental agency. We just returned from a 4 night 5 day trip to Kiawah. We were 4 women golfers and found Akers Ellis to be an excellent resource for locating the perfect rental. Our home was clean both inside and out, reasonably priced, exactly what we'd requested and better than the pictures we viewed before signing. The staff, in oarticular Amanda, was professional and friendly, returned emails promptly and staged a welcoming and inviting reception upon entering the home well after dinnertime on the night of our arrival. Will definitely be our go to realtor for future visits to the island.
My suggestion is to research other rental companies as there are quite a few fabulous companies who are happy to work with you and your family to create a relationship and have fantastic customer service while managing equally beautiful properties similiar to Akers Ellis.
We were given the enclosed note about some sort of refund which while is nice -have the courtesy to follow through with the guests to make sure they are happy and not even got a "hey sorry this happened after you spent thousands with us and our company"! The point is we could care less the money but more about the service and if I was the property owner and knew my place was being maintained so poorly that complaints were being given, I would be horrified. We spent a week at 23 Greensward. The house was well equipped and very comfortable. Very close to the Straw Market and beach access. We will definitely come back!!
